Ireland denounces shooting close to diplomatic political team
Simon Harris, Ireland’s tanaiste (deputy prime minister) and minister for foreign affairs, trade, and defense that the political team had 2 Irish diplomats located in Ramallah who were present when shooting was allegedly fired by the Israeli military (IDF), in the neighborhood of the camp.
Harris stated in an official release "I am shocked and appalled at reports that the IDF fired shots in the vicinity of a visit to Jenin today by a group of diplomats, including two Irish diplomats based in Ramallah. Fortunately, no-one was hurt. This is completely unacceptable and I condemn it in the strongest terms.”
Ireland has long advocated for compliance to international legislation in the Israeli and Palestinian war and often demanded the safety of civilians and diplomatic members.
